Telio launches broadband telephone service for businesses

Telio, which is a leading provider of broadband telephone service for Norwegian consumers, is launching broadband telephone service for small and medium sized businesses. – According to the company CEO mr. Eirik Lunde, the business market is mature and ready for broadband telephone service, and that is where the highest growth potential is in the near future.

Telio was the first company in Norway to offer broadband telephone service for consumers, and has for a long time been one of the leaders in the consumer market. The company has a 25% market share, more than 132 000 customers, and is still growing. Today the company is launching broadband telephone service aimed at small and medium sized companies, which constitutes a rapidly growing market, according to the company.

It is our estimate that Norway has more than 190.000 companies of small to medium size, and the telephone cost both in Norway and internationally is substantial for many of them. Despite the fact that many of these companies already have broadband connections, less than 0.5% use broadband telephone service. (As per the Norwegian Post and Telecommunications Authority). Even though there are still plenty of customers available in the consumer market, we expect the fasted growth to be on the business side, says mr. Lunde.

During the summer Telio has tested and analysed the business market though selected distributors and several business customers have already started using the new services.

One of these is Puls Arkitekter AS. – We have been using Telio Bedrift (Telio Business) for several months and are quite satisfied, says the business manager mr. Hans Christian Høegh. Paying a set fee pr month for both Norwegian and foreign calls saves us a lot of money. The service is user friendly and very flexible and the quality and dependability of the calls themselves are very high.

Today marks the start of Telio’s sales and marketing campaign towards the business market. – The experience and the feedback so far are very positive, says the Telio CEO. Most businesses are interested in reducing the telephone cost to a minimum and at the same time make them a fixed cost, predictable and independent from call volume. This is exactly what we offer through our broadband telephone service for small companies – independent of who their broadband supplier is.

Telio has focused on simple products, high service quality and good customer service. This led to the quick growth and the current leading position in the consumer market, and according to mr Lunde it will be just as important is the business market. – Our customer research shows that we have the most satisfied customers and the highest quality services, and this is important to be successful in a demanding professional market, he says.

The regular telephone prices have come down quite a bit for the consumers during the last few years, but businesses have not had a comparable reduction in their prices. Several business managers will, during a fairly short period of time, replace their old telephone systems with broadband telephone service, and we will be there to secure a leading position in that market as well, concludes mr. Lunde.
