- Revenue increase 30 per cent, net operating income NOK 3 million
(Oslo, August 22nd, 2007) Telio, one of Europe ́s leading providers of broadband
telephone service, shows continued profitable growth during the second quarter. The
company posted revenues of NOK 90.5 million, a new record, and a 30 per cent growth
over the same quarter last year. The net operating income was NOK 3.0 million,
compared to a loss of NOK 4.4 million last year.
We continued a profitable and controlled growth during the second quarter, says Eirik Lunde,
the CEO of Telio Holding ASA, despite the continuing consolidation of customers during May
and June and considerable investments in expanding the Telio brand.
At the end of the second quarter Telio had 133.800 subscribers, a net increase of 1.700
compared to the first quarter. The number of subscribers in Denmark increased by 17 per
cent to a total of 21,500 (including 13,100 customers in Musimi). In the Netherlands the
growth was 22 per cent to a total of 9,500 subscribers. The number of subscribers in Norway
remained the same due to consolidation of existing customers.
During the month of July the number of customer in Norway grew by 1,600 due to the
establishment of new and better sales channels and successful branding and marketing
campaigns.
- We finalized to a large extent the consolidation of our subscribers in Norway during May
and June, and our focus on customer service is giving us more loyal customers, says Lunde.
The net increase of 1,600 new customers in July shows that our increased efforts in sales,
marketing and branding are really starting to materialise.
Telio has been testing their broadband telephone service for small businesses at several
selected business customers during June and July, and launched the service on a wider
scale in August. The company has conducted a thorough analysis of the market, and
considers the growth potential as very promising.
Along with the partner Tandberg, Telio has developed a broadband telephone service that
also includes high quality video conferencing. This new service is being launched today.
Telio will offer a subscription based broadband service with the option of video conferencing
to existing and new Tandberg customers.
For the second quarter the Telio Group posted revenues of NOK 90.5 million, compared to
NOK 69.6 million during the same quarter last year. EBITDA was NOK 16.4 million for the
second quarter (18 per cent margin), compared to NOK 2.9 million for the second quarter last
year (4 per cent margin). Income before tax for the second quarter was NOK 2.2 million,
compared to a loss of NOK 4.9 million for the second quarter last year.
